Elevator for boats to the Orlík Hydroelectric Station
15. 2. 2023The boat lift on Orlík is unique not only in the Czech Republic but also in the whole of Europe. A 70m-tall lift moves ships for 20 mins on a 277m rail. Built with Orlik dam, transport method is unchanged. The trolley is immersed in the water at the station so that the ship can enter it. It is then tied down so that when it surfaces it hangs on the courts. Transportation on the rails is on dry land.
The trolley is always turned at the top of the track so that when the trolley is submerged at the end station the ship is able to swim out comfortably
From 2021, vessels up to 3.00 m wide, 10 m long and 6 t displacement can be transported.
The ship lift is in operation from 6.5. to 30.9.
Operating hours of the ship lift:
from 6 May to 31 May on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays until 17:00
June to September according to the times below.
Clarification of operating hours – lunch breaks 12:00 – 13:00!
Vessels are transported by prior order in the ordering system of the State Enterprise Vltava River Basin, which is available at http://rezervace.pvl.cz/.

It is possible to transport vessels when the water level in the reservoir drops up to 342.50 m above sea level.
