When winterizing a boat
When winterizing a boat, you need to remember these things:

• engine – oil change, flushing with antifreeze according to type

• toilet – drain the waste tank, if the boat is outside, put antifreeze in the toilet – , if the toilet is portable ( chemical ) , hide inside

• either disconnect and hide the batteries for the winter or keep them permanently – recharge them . Room temperature is also not ideal for batteries.

• keep the boat under shelter , or under a tarp – the paint lasts longer , and in winter there is alternating rain , freezing weather . If I kept the boat dry , even when it was outside , there was never as much repair and maintenance needed

• metal boats – fix the paint – prevent the spread of corrosion – it’s good to have spray or paint even all year round

• keep the sails dry

• drain water tanks – clean – disinfect

• lubricate the moving parts – rudder, shaft and engine parts lubricate with grease ( ideally regularly ) )

• drain the fuel from the tank

• make sure the compartment is ventilated, even where mould could form – ventilate the cabin

• secure the trolley – lighten it on stands if necessary
